Arthur Kenneth Huseonica was born January 6, 1951 in
Lucerne Mines, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Homer-Center High
School in 1968 while working in horticulture, and then moved to Florida
where he worked for Barnett Banks (assistant head teller) and the PepsiCo
Corporation (inventory, distribution and sales).
At age 24, Huseonica joined the U. S. Navy as an Ocean Systems Technician working with the Integrated Undersea Surveillance System (IUSS) tracking animate and inanimate objects throughout the worlds' oceans. He has been stationed in California, Iceland, Florida, Japan, Hawaii and sailed around the world collecting oceanographic data. He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer from the Pentagon, where he was in charge of Human Resources and Training for IUSS, to become a Collegiate Associate Professor and Academic Director at University of Maryland University College (UMUC). He is currently the warehouse manager and Web consultant at Schoolmart.com in Maryland. Huseonica has taught information technology and computer application courses for UMUC for 18 years in Iceland and College Park. He has been quoted in National Geographic Magazine, Management Review Magazine, Newsweek, and featured in numerous articles. Huseonica has authored two volumes of systems management manuals and program guides for deep-oceanographic systems and the Annual Review of the Oceanographic Systems Technician. He frequently writes for various periodicals on timely topics. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from UMUC in Japan, a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and a Master of Science degree in Management from UMUC. His Ph.D. in Education is from state licensed Warren National University (formerly Kennedy-Western University). Huseonica is married to Karen Anne Carlsen of Brooklyn, New York. They reside in Crofton, Maryland where they have chaired positions on the Greater Crofton Council Board of Directors. Art is a high-altitude mountaineer, gardener and landscaper, and hot air balloon senior crewperson certified in launch and recovery operations. |
